SENses ARTS programme

SENses ARTS is a brand new inclusive multi-sensory music programme; it includes singers, makaton signers, flag & pom-pom dancers, eye gaze musicians, mini mu glove users and motion synth players and well and traditional musicians.

The programme is open to SEND and non-SEND children and young people from the age of 7+. Those who need it can sign up to have music lessons with us. The aim is that we will provide lessons in any of the areas that's best suited to their physical ability, with a view to preparing for a joint performance. Applicants can choose to have lessons in one of the following:
  • singing
  • makaton singing (& signing)
  • flag /pom-pom dance
  • eye gaze instrument
  • mini mu - music glove
  • motion synth
All our music lessons are currently carried out online and students can choose to have video lessons or live 1-to-1 lessons.

We also welcome applicants who already play an instrument or sing.

SENses ARTS music lessons

Video lessons

If you choose to have our video lessons, you can work through our pre-recorded, step by step videos at your own pase.

For a monthly fee you will gain access to all the step by step video lessons for your chosen instrument or area.

Live 1-to-1 lessons

Live lessons can be done over Zoom, Teams or Jitsi, you will have weekly lessons with your teacher, who will work with you individually.

Which area is best for you?

Singing the songs and signing the words

Can you use your voice? Yes? Then you could be a singer in the choir.

Singers who are able to use their arms and hands can be makaton singer/signers

Moving our bodies

Are you able to wave your arms or move your legs? You could be a 'flag' or pom-pom dancer. Pom-pom and flags can have wrist bands so you don't need to worry about being able hold them.

Making music by moving your arms & hands

Can you control you arm and hand? The Mini.mu glove allows you to make music by making gestures with you arm and hand. You need to be able control your arm and hand enough to make the gestures in order to be a mini mu musician.

Using a tablet to make music

Are you already an eye gaze user? or Do use a tablet? You can use your eyes or hands to control a tablet or computer to make music.

Using a finger and arm to make music

Can you control at lease 1 finger?

Do you already play an instrument?

If you already play an instrument you are welcome to play it as part of the SENses ARTS band.
